The ever-popular Hastings County Plowing Match continues Thursday in Frankford.
Ontario’s Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness Trevor Jones, took in the event on Wednesday with Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp, along with Hastings Lennox and Addington MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman and MPP Ric Bresee.
The Minister’s visit also included a tour of Grain Farmer’s of Ontario Chair Jeff Harrison’s farm.
Allsopp said it was an informative tour that touched on this summer’s drought, crop insurance and other agricultural supports. They also discussed the impacts of red tape, tariffs, fertilizer demands and commodity pricing on farm operations.
The final day of the event features live music, Queen and Princess of the Furrow presentations, an antique tractor parade and all day tractor and horse plowing.
It’s happening at 1289 Harrington Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
